Both Girls and Boys Team losses were outweighed by great performances by the athletes. There are 6 WPIAL qualifiers (automatic and 2^nd cuts) for the girls. Leading the way are sophomores Amanda Aidar (2 automatic times), Kaitlyn Connors (3 automatic times), and Blaire Gillespie (two 2^nd cuts). Special shout outs to our first time WPIAL qualfiers Freja Kile (2^nd cut in 200 Free) and Drew Kendell (2^nd cuts in 50 Free and 100 Back). The 200 Free and 400 free Relay teams won their events and earned automatic qualifying times. Diver Addison Burnette scored a WPIAL qualifying score of 213.

The boys had a stellar meet, winning 8 of 11 swimming events. The boys’ 200 Medley, 200 and 400 Free Relay teams won their events and earned automatic qualifying times. The seniors gave outstanding performances led by Ganesh Sivaramakrishnan (1^st in 200 Free and 100 Fly), Ethan Neal (1^st in 100 back and 2^nd in 100 Fly), Will Perham (1^st in 100 Breast), Ryan Senchyshak (1^st in 50 free and 2^nd in 100 free), Andrew White (2^nd in 500 free), and Daniel Wang (3^rd in 100 Back and 4^th in 50 free). There are 12 swimmers that earned WPIAL qualifying times, 5 of whom earned at least one automatic time. Special mention to the following sophomores’ performances. Whit Burns finished 2^nd in the 100 breast posting a personal best and automatic qualifying time of 1:00 min. Max Shipley posted personal bests in 200 and 500 Free and 2^nd cuts in both events. Matthew Fibbi swam a personal best in 500 Free and earned his first WPIAL qualifying time. Rounding up our WPIAL qualifiers are juniors Colby Bernard (100 Fly), Alex Petkov (100 Breast), and Matvey Zoukovski (50 free and 100 free). It is noteworthy that, had it not been for an unfortunate incident that disqualified all our swimmers in the 200 IM, Will, Andrew and Pavel would have finished 1^st, 2^nd and 5^th in the event and Will and Andrew would have earned their automatic times. Despite posting a loss, it was indeed a very successful first meet of the 21-22 season.
