Upper St Clair Swim and Dive Teams Split Double Dual Meet at the Big Mac Meet
COVID continued to affect the season as depleted boys and girls teams competed at the Big Mac Meet at Seneca Valley Natatorium on January 8, 2022. The girls split the double dual meet posting the first section meet against Canon MacMillan High School (118-66) and losing to Seneca Valley (71-113). Likewise, the boys recorded their first section win against Canon MacMillan (125-51) and lost to Seneca Valley (72-111). Congratulations to those that achieve WPIAL qualifying times. Girls Swimming and Diving
USC swimmers continued to perform well led by sophomore Kaitlyn Connors. Kaitlyn broke the pool record in the 50 free in her lead off swim in the 200 Free Relay. She also won in the 100 Fly and earned an automatic qualifying time in the event. Amanda Aidar finished first in the 50 and 100 Free and earned her 2nd cuts in both events. The Medley Relay team of Amanda Aidar (Back), Blaire Gillespie (Breast), Kaitlyn Connors (Fly), and Maren Davis (Free) started the day with a first place finish. Blaire Gillespie won the 100 Breast and finished second in the 200 IM. In the 500 Free, Freja Kile finished in second place. The 200 Free Relay team of Kaitlyn Connors, Maren Davis, Freja Kile, and Amanda Aidar took first. Senior Rachel Fibbi got third in the 100 back and freshman Maren Davis got third in the 100 breast. The 400 Free Relay team of Freja Kile, Sarina Krishnaswamy, Blair Gillespie, and Rachel Fibbi capped off the meet with a third place finish. Diver Addison Burnette finished in third place
Boys Swimming
Senior boys continued to swim well led by Ganesh Sivaramakrishnan who finished second in the 200 IM and first in the 100 Back, earning automatic qualifying times in both events. Andrew White earned an automatic qualifying time in the 200 IM. Andrew also finished second in the 100 Back and earned 2nd cut times. Ethan Neal finished third in the 50 Free and second in the 500 Free earning a 2nd cut time in the 500 Free. The Medley Relay team of Ganesh Sivaramakrishnan (back), Will Perham (breast), Colby Bernard (fly), and Ethan Neal (free) started the meet with a second place finish. Matthew Fibbi got third in the 200 Free and third in the 500 Free. Colby Bernard, got his 2nd cut time in the 200 IM and also finished third in the 100 Fly (earning a 2nd cut time again in the event. Will Perham also made a 2nd cut time in the 100 Fly. Matvey Zoukovski finished third in the 100 Free. The 200 Free Relay team of Matvey, Ethan Leszczynski, Colby Bernard, and Matthey Fibbi finished second in the event. Alex Petkov got third in the 100 Breast earning his 2nd cut again the event. The 400 Free relay team of Ganesh, Matvey, Andrew, and Ethan finished the meet by placing second in the event and Ganesh earned an automatic qualifying time in the 100 Free as a lead off swimmer.
